Manuel Romero, tenor

At age 16, singing sensation Manuel Romero, a Milpitas native, is well on his way to stardom and fame. Manuel’s voice adapts to a wide range of musical styles, from mariachi and ballads in Spanish to pop songs in English to Ave Maria in classical Italian. Manuel sang for Pope John Paul II during one of his visits to Mexico and has performed at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. He has performed with Silicon Valley Symphony and Diablo Symphony Orchestra and in Mariachi Festivals throughout the country as well as “Despierta America” and “Furia Musical.”

Manuel is a favorite to open sports events by singing the National Anthem. The Oakland A’s, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49er’s, San Jose Sharks and the Golden State Warriors have all had him as their invited artist. Manuel has released two albums, receiving the International Trebby Award for best popular album and song of the year. He is presently working on his third album with Jon Cain, songwriter, vocalist and keyboardist for “Journey”. The new album will include songs that Manuel wrote himself, as he has added songwriting to his list of talents. Manuel also plays the guitar and piano. In 2002, Manuel received Grammy nominations for Best Album and Best New Artist. Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante has commended him for his exceptional musical talent. Manuel will start his junior year in the fall at Valley Christian in Dublin. He is active in many community service projects and is a varsity soccer player. Manuel is an official team leader for the Easter Seals “Walk with Me”, the event raises money for people with disabilities.

After graduating from high school, Manuel plans to go to college and study music and business. By studying business, he hopes to better manage his singing career. People en Espańol wrote “Manuel is good news for the music industry. He will be the next giant of original Mexican music.”
