Hollywood Sound Stage
Sunday 5:30 pm August 2, 2015
sponsored by Target, Applied Materials Foundation, City of San Jose, Diane and Lee Brandenburg

Lights, Camera ... Music! Maestro Peter Jaffe takes us to the Movies! Tonight we feature selections from classic Hollywood film scores, and our final Free Ice Cream Day!
Movies without music are unimaginable. The greatest moments in movie history are indelibly tied to the great music: the train sequence in Lawrence of Arabia, the rise of the Obelisk in 2001, A Space Odyssey, the opening sequence from Gone With the Wind, the helicopter ride from Jurassic Park, the flying of the bicycles in E.T., Luke's Death Star trench run from Star Wars.
This past spring, Symphony Silicon Valley mounted the epic trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Live in Concert at San Jose's Center for the Performing Arts to sold out houses and standing ovations! For our grand finale of this year's Summer Pops Festival, the Symphony keeps that tradition with this treasure trove of great movie music.

Selections include...

  • 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY (Also sprach Zarathustra)
  • STAR WARS (Main theme)
  • ROMEO & JULIET (Love theme)
  • JAMES BOND, 007 (Themes)
  • DR. ZIVAGO (Laura's Theme)
  • FROZEN (Selections, including Let It Go)

Look for Symphony Silicon Valley to return in 2016 with an entire series of classic movies and memorable music performed live in concert at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts!
