All performances held on the green at San Jose State UniversityIt's here: Symphony Silicon Valley's 2012 free outdoor summer music festival. Sponsored by Target, Applied Materials, City of San Jose and KCBS Radio, the Symphony's 5th annual Target Summer Pops festival brings free professional orchestral music to the community in delightful fully produced lawn concerts on the green at San Jose State University July 28 through August 5, 2012. THe festival has quickly become a beloved family tradition, with last year's festival drawing over 16,000 people and giving out 192 gallons of free ice cream! See below for the full list of informal, fun, free concerts coming this summer.

A Little Classical Night Music

A lively collection of light classics: highlights from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty, Borodin’s seductive Polovtsian Dances, the hypnotic Ritual Fire Dance, Mozart’s A Little Night Music, Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony and much more. Join the orchestra for an evening of tuneful favorites that will send you home humming.

Cuban-born clarinetist, saxophonist & composer Paquito D’Rivera’s tango-infused Latin jazz brings audiences to their feet. One of the all time great cross-over masters of jazz, Latin and classical music and a stunning instrumentalist, D'Rivera combines boundary-busting artistry with easygoing warmth and good humor. Join this nine time Grammy winner and his quintet on the Lawn for a spectacular taste of sweet and spicy music.

The Great American Songbook: Rodgers & Hart and Harold Arlen

Broadway diva and captivating chanteuse Christine Andreas and Paul Schoeffler from Broadway's hit "Rock of Ages" join the orchestra to perform the music of Rogers & Hart and Harold Arlen. Immortal songs like Lady is a Tramp, My Funny Valentine, That Old Black Magic and Stormy Weather spirit us back into an era of romance.

From her award-winning Eliza Doolittle in the 20th anniversary revival of My Fair Lady to the recent Broadway smash hit La Cage aux Folles, from Mama Rose in Broadway in Concert's Gypsy to her 2010 tribute Target Summer Pops concert "Here's To The Ladies," Andreas has enchanted audiences coast to coast. In addition to his many lead roles on and off Broadway, Schoeffler dazzled Symphony Silicon Valley audiences in 2011 as Henry Higgins in the Broadway In Concert production of My Fair Lady. Don't miss this memorable musical evening.
