Target Family Concert
Sunday 3:00 pm August 23, 2009
Lemony Snicket's witty musical mystery, "The Composer Is Dead," leads off our program with characters from each section of the orchestra,  followed by master harmonica virtuoso Bonfiglio playing Gershwin and much more.  Our younger audience members will receive free harmonicas (while they last!) and a short lesson from the master himself, and then will perform a tune together with the orchestra.  Bring a picnic and spend a fun-filled family afternoon with the Symphony.

Conductor: Robert Bonfiglio, harmonica soloist
Soloist(s): Bruce Hangen, conductor

Cleo Laine & John Dankworth
Tuesday 5:30 pm August 25, 2009
The legendary jazz vocalist appears on our summer stage with husband John Dankworth, composer and master of the clarinet and saxophone.  At New York’s Blue Note last year, critics marveled at Laine’s voice: ”a wonder of agility and plummy richness,” -- and  Dankworth’s playing:“as gossamer as ever.” Come Tuesday for an early evening jam session with the ‘king and queen of British jazz.’
